- RESURRECTION: GOD’S ETERNAL PROMISE
LESON EXPOSITION
RESURRECTION: GOD’S ULTIMATE ACT OF LOVE (3:16; 11:25-26; 2Cor.5:17; 1 Jn.1:9)
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who belleves in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die Do you believe this?’”
(John 11:25-26)
a) Jesus, the Word of God (Jn. 1:1ff), came to truly reveal God to us (vv. 14ff) and to ultimately settle the ultimate debt we owe, once and for all (Rom. 3:23; 6:23; Gal.4:4).
b) Jn. 3:16: Jesus willingly suffered and, died to pay the price for our sins. Resurrection is the culmination of God’s love. It proves that Christ’s sacrifice was the divine plan to redeem humanity.
c) 11:25-26: Resurrection is the foundation of the Christian hope-death is not the end, but gateway to eternal life with Christ. Just as Christ rose from the dead, believers have the hope ofeternal life.
d) His resurrection proves that His sacrifice was accepted by God (Rom. 4:25). If Jesus hadn’t risen, His death would have been in vain. His resurrection confirms our justification before God.
e) 2 Cor. 5:17: Resurrection offers new life to anyone who believes. Just as Christ overcame death, we experience spiritual transformation that moves us from death in sin to life in Him.
f) 1 Jn. 1:9: Resurrection guarantees that forgiveness is available to all, no matter how deep their sins, through repentance and faith in Christ. It shows that no sin is greater than God’s love and forgiveness (Rom. 5:20; Eph. 1:7: Col. 1:13-14; Heb. 10:17).
RESURRECTION: GOD’S ETERNAL PROMISE (Acts 2:24; Rom. 1:4: 8:38-39; 1 Cor 15:20-22; Rev. 21:4)
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
(1 Cor. 15:20)
a) Acts 2:24: Resurrection shows that God’s promise of salvation is real. Jesus, rising from the dead confirms that He
has saved us from sin and death, and that we can have eternal life through Him.
b) Rom. 1:4:Resurrection proves that Jesus isn’t just a man but the Son of God, with power over life and death It strengthens our faith in Him as the living Saviour.
c) 8.38-39: Resurrection assures us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. It reminds us that His perfect plan and love for us will ever fail, nomatter what happens.
d) 1 Cor. 15:20-22: Because Jesus was raised, we too will be raised to eternal life. His victory over death assures us that for those in Christ, death is not the end.
e) Rev. 21:4: Resurrection guarantees the defeat of death and promises heaven, a place free from pain, sorrow and death,
where we will be with God, forever.
